From SVG to animation

  1. Bring in your SVG

Open Studio and choose Import, or drop an SVG into an open animation. You can also paste SVG markup. If an import review appears, check the result and choose Insert.

  2. Choose what moves

Select a layer. At the start of the timeline, click the diamond beside Position to set its first keyframe.

  3. Add the movement

Move the playhead later and drag the layer to its next position. Press Space to play. You can animate rotation, scale and opacity in the same way.

  4. Download Lottie

Choose Export, check the Lottie preview and download Lottie JSON or dotLottie. Use Document actions → Download source to keep an editable Libre copy too.

Before importing

  • A static SVG stays still until you add keyframes. Existing SVG animations made with CSS, SMIL or JavaScript do not transfer into the timeline.
  • If complex artwork imports differently, simplify it or convert it to paths in the source app. Check the imported result before animating.
