# Select, pan, and zoom

> Select objects and navigate the canvas.

## Select

* Press `V` for **Select**.
* Click an object on the canvas or its row in **Layers**.
* Drag on empty canvas to select several objects. Hold `Shift` to add to the selection.

## Pan

Press `H` for **Hand**, then drag. You can also drag with the middle mouse button. Press `V` to return to **Select**.

## Zoom

Pinch on a trackpad, or hold `⌘/Ctrl` while scrolling the mouse wheel. Scroll without that modifier to pan. Use `⌘/Ctrl + 0` to center the canvas at 100% zoom.

## Tip

If clicking selects points instead of the whole shape, press `V` to leave vector edit mode.
